GENERAL OBJECTIVE

 

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the management of a team of technicians that will be working within the Brewing, Beer Processing and Water Treatment Process Areas. The manager has full responsibility for the scheduled / unscheduled maintenance, installation and commissioning tasks on plant and  equipment, according to standards and established practices and will be the main contact point in the event of plant breakdown to ensure the provision of prompt support to minimize downtime.

 

 

 

JOB DUTIES

 

Assist the Brewing Operations Manager and Brewers to develop, design and integrate new brewing technologies and other improvements into the beer manufacturing processes.
Be responsible for a Maintenance Team which includes technicians, fitters, and apprentices.
Coach and develop the department’s technical staff and manage their performance against set objectives. Manage staff through the Human Resource Information System and rostering staff according to established company procedures.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement with all team-members, which includes due consideration to product and process quality and cost reduction.
Manage the implementation of the preventive maintenance programme for Brewing, Beer Processing and Water Treatment. Schedule the relevant preventive maintenance tasks and assign their implementation to the team of technicians.
Implement scheduled maintenance on plant equipment and machinery, liaising with service providers and equipment / spare part suppliers wherever necessary.
Manage all spare parts for the different process areas on the company’s ERP system, to always ensure availability of critical parts
Organize immediate trouble-shooting and repairs in the case of plant breakdown, according to lean principles with the objective of minimizing down-time.
Ensure that all works are carried out in line with the company’s OHS, Hygiene, Quality and Food Safety Standard.
In liaison with Operations manager and Brewers responsible for planning and production, ensure that the maintenance program is maintained by exploiting line availability.
Monitor process, production data, utilities consumption trends regularly to identify the need for corrective and preventive maintenance.
Manage risk assessment reports and take any other necessary measures to ensure health and safety of subordinates or other employees.
Be available outside normal working hours to assist and advise in the event of equipment breakdown and ensure that process downtime is kept to a minimum.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

1. Bachelor’s Degree in engineering.

2. 3-5 years’ experience at a leadership level in a technical environment.

3. Maintenance experience in electrical and mechanical installations as well as manufacturing process automation.

4. Project management experience.

5. Good organizational and decision-making skills, including the ability to plan, organise, and schedule the work of others.

6. Strong leadership skills to provide technical direction to team members as well as external contractors.

7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
